Ramblinglily Looking To Extend Streak

The Maritimes’ fastest mare will look to continue her perfect streak Thursday night (September 3) at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

First-race post time for the 12-dash program is 7 p.m.

The top mares on the east coast of Canada will battle in the $2,200 Fillies and Mares Open Pace (Race 7), which will feature Ramblinglily from Post 3 in the six-horse affair. Walter Cheverie will drive Ramblinglily. The mare is currently riding a four-race win streak. Ramblinglily has won eight of her 10 starts this season. The five-year-old daughter of Articulator is co-owned and trained by Alan Jones of Riverview and co-owned by Normand Leger of Shediac, NB. Her main rivals will be to the inside, as For All We Know (to be driven by Gilles Barrieau) will start from Post 1 and Fleurje (Mark Bradley) will start from Post 2. Brodys Leona (Corey MacPherson), Bunny Mach (Gary Chappell) and Stayoutofmyaffair (Jason Hughes) will complete the field.

A hard-hitting field of seven starters will line up for Race 11, which will be contested for a purse of $2,200. The Big Bite is favoured early from Post 5 for driver Mike Stevenson, trainer Thane Arsenault and owners Jack Arsenault of Charlottetown, Donna McIver of York, Edward Blaisdell of Montague and Deborah Wilson of Nova Scotia. The six-year-old son of Shark Gesture does not have an easy road ahead of him, as he is set to face off with Post 6 starter Forever Paradise (Barrieau) and Waterside Light (Kenny Arsenault), who has early rail control from Post 1. Other entries include Tempo Seelster (Vincent Poulton), Perfect Escape (Brian MacPhee), McJestic (Marc Campbell) and Cambest Kisser (Hughes).

A group of eight trotters will battle in Race 3. Diamond Mine is the morning line favourite from Post 5. Willie Murphy will be in the bike for co-owner and trainer Cindy MacDonald of Montague and co-owner Tanya MacKinnon of Souris. The group also contains Kims PJs (Lenny Myers) and Howmacs Pride (Arsenault).
