Campbell Stable On A Roll At Century
Brandon Campbell closed out a winning weekend at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino with a training triple on Sunday.
The 32-year-old Calgary horseman scored his first win of the day in the third race with the maiden-breaking sophomore gelding Gray Glory ($4.40) that he shares ownership of with Timothy Kane and Gary Zima. The son of Camystic was last at the half and moved into contention down the backside en route to the 1:59.2 triumph.
Two races later, Campbell sent Life Signature ($5.90) to the lead early and rebuffed a serious challenge from Gotta Dream Big into the stretch to win in 1:56 for owner Mike Dicks. The six-year-old pacer is a perfect two-for-two in Campbell's care after being claimed twice by Dicks this summer.
Campbell completed his Sunday training triple in the 10th race finale as the four-year-old Brandons Cowboy gelding Regina Beach ($7.60) converted off a pocket trip to defeat Hurrah in 1:57 for Debbie Campbell, Jodi Loftus and Steven Robinson.
Prior to Regina Beach's victory, Campbell also steered the Dan Sifert-trained mare Sacred Valley ($3.80) to a 1:55.2 triumph.
Campbell, whose stable went six-for-eight over the weekend, now has 23 training wins this meet and ranks fourth on the local leaderboard behind Rod Hennessy (25), Kelly Hoerdt (42) and leader Travis Cullen (104). On the driving side, he has 46 wins and is the track's second leading reinsman behind Travis Cullen (107).
