Unabating Repeats At Rideau
Unabating ($3.30) was a popular repeat winner in the $6,500 Winners Over Trot while Miramontman ($33.40) defied his long odds in winning Sunday night's co-featured pacing division at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Driven by Gord Brown for trainer Gerard Demers, Unabating was positioned sixth for most of the mile before circling up wide to defeat the mare Out Of The Hat, who closed through the passing lane from the pocket. The seven-year-old Broadway Hall gelding prevailed by a quarter-length in 1:57.1. Keystone Wyatt settled for third-place, two lengths behind, after leading the field through fractions of 27.3, :58 and 1:27. Unabating is owned by Catheline Pelletier of Mirabel, Que. and Les Ecuries GLD Inc. of St-Andre-Avelin, Que.
Overlooked as the 15-1 longest shot on the board, Miramontman continued his winning momentum from a week ago to step up and score a victory in the top class for trainer/owner Michele Raymond of Chelsea, Que. Driven by Guy Gagnon, the seven-year-old Blissfull Hall gelding was locked in the pocket behind leader Sovereign Wealth with first over Pieraz challenging outside through panels of :27.3, :56 and 1:24.3 before shooting through the passing lane to prevail in 1:54. Miramontman defeated 8-5 favourite Sovereign Wealth by a quarter-length while Pieraz following one length behind in third.
