Gorden McKnight scored his 1,000th career driving win on Friday night at Grand River Raceway.

The London, Ont. resident steered trotting mare Edna Loral to her 20th lifetime victory off a three-hole trip in race 10, finishing a half-length the best in 2:02.2 outside of the pocket-pulling Gracies Harmony and the 1-9 pacesetter Brontewine.

McKnight also trains and owns the seven-year-old daughter of Amigo Hall, who returned backers $24.90 for a $2 wager.

The 51-year-old reinsman also has 461 training wins to his credit.

Shadows Wonder took advantage of the passing lane to win the evening's $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace in 1:57.3 by one and a half lengths over pacesetter Pictonian Sareta and the first-over favourite Double Joy.

Canada's season leading driver Alfie Carroll worked out the pocket trip aboard the four-year-old Shadow Play mare, who has won back-to-back races at Grand River and notched her third victory this year in 12 starts for trainer Dr. Ian Moore and co-owners Nancy Moore of Guelph, Ont. and William Shearer of Brookfield, N.S.
