Five-Mile Race Set For Sunday
The Circuit régional des courses de chevaux du Québec (CRCCQ) is proud to announce that Quebec's famous five-mile race, Le 5 Milles Charlevoix, is set for its 105th renewal this Sunday (August 9).
Conducted for the last three years at Hippodrome de la Vallée in Saint-Aimé-des-Lacs, this year's race attracted a group of 10 pacers that will go 10 laps around the wonderful half-miler.
The morning line favourite is Aarons Mattjesty (Denis St-Pierre) who finished second in 2013 but recently established a two-mile world record at Hippodrome 3R. Last year's winner Our Star (Mario Charron) is back to defend his crown and Brussebeach (Louis-Philippe Roy) also looms as a contender.
Over $24,000 in purses are up for grabs over the 10-race card. The tote will be on site in Bedford and fans can bet on their favourites. Rain or shine, first race post time is set for 1:00 p.m.
