‘Andrea’ Romps In Nova Scotia Stake
A compact field of four faced the gate in Thursday’s $4,300 Nova Scotia Stake for two-year-old trotters at Truro Raceway, and it was a maiden-breaker who wound up blowing away the competition.
West River Andrea, who entered the contest winless in her first three starts, went to the front from Post 3 and successfully sliced out fractions of :34.1, 1:07.1 and 1:41 before drawing clear to win by seven lengths over Dunmore Ace in 2:13.3. Majian Maxine and Weddingbell Ridge rounded out the field.
Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, the homebred daughter of Northern Bailey-Panacotta Hanover bumped her lifetime earnings to $3,878 with the win for owner/trainer/driver Clare MacDonald of Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
