Following approval by the New Jersey Racing Commission yesterday, the Meadowlands has announced that it will amend its 2009 race dates

The Meadowlands will be dark Wednesdays May 6, 20 and June 17. The change will reduce the racing schedule those weeks from five days to four, as special matinee cards will be held Sunday, May 10 (Mother's Day), Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day) and Sunday, June 21 (Father's Day).

The three-week Hiram Woodruff Series for trotters has been moved to Thursdays May 7, 14 and 21 from its original Wednesday schedule.

The Meadowlands will add three harness dates in December: Friday, December 18, Saturday, December 19 and Saturday, December 26.

Pre-season football will impact the August racing schedule -- hose changes will be announced in the coming weeks.
