Quinte App. Incomplete, Not Rejected

According to an article by the Belleville Intelligencer, officials from both the Ontario Racing Commission and Baymount Inc. have stated that the application for 2009 race dates at the Quinte Exhibition and Raceway

was not rejected as originally reported, but was deemed 'incomplete.'

The article states that one of the elements missing from the application was the required fee. "I can honestly say I've never submitted the fee," Ray Veeneman, Baymount's vice president of operations was quoted as saying. "I usually submit the application to get the ball rolling and then I send the fee in after that."

Veeneman went on to say, "I've spoken with the racing commission and they're willing to work with us."

The report cites Wendy Hoogeveen, ORC director of industry development and support, as confirming that the commission has not rejected any applications from Baymount.

"What I can tell you is the application was incomplete," she was quoted as saying. "Certainly, we work with the applicants in terms of getting the application complete but we won't be considering the matter until the application is complete."
