Century Open To Sing Like An Angel

Sing Like An Angel continued her successful campaign at the inaugural Century Downs meet on Friday evening, winning the $11,500 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace for the seventh time.

The five-year-old Bettors Delight mare has finished no worse than third in 10 starts against the top mares at the Calgary oval.

With the inside starters leaving, trainer/driver Travis Cullen settled Sing Like An Angel into third-place. Rummys Command (Keith Clark) out-sprinted Nighttraintovegas (Brandon Campbell) off the gate and led the five-horse field through opening panels of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:25.2. Down the backstretch, Cullen tipped his mare first up and once she kicked into high-gear, she was unstoppable. Sing Like an Angel brushed by Rummys Command coming off the final turn and the 1-9 favourite went on to win by three lengths in 1:54.4, with Rummys Command edging out Nighttraintovegas in a photo for place.

Sing Like An Angel is owned by Travis Cullen, Jodie Cullen, Keith Hannah and Margaret Hannah.
