Pool Rule Changes Announced
On July 16, the Association of Racing Commissioners International (ARCI) Board of Directors adopted a proposal to amend the RCI Model Rules for changes to the Pick (n) Pool.
As per section 143 of the Pari-Mutuel Betting Supervision Regulations, this type of bet is available to Canadian race-course associations.
The amendments to the Pick (n) Pool;
-
Allow the transfer of carryover amounts amongst race meetings for which they are the pool host;
-
Repeals subsection (13) that previously prohibited race-course associations from providing certain information to the public (e.g. number of remaining winning tickets sold and ‘will-pay’ amounts), and
-
Offer race-course associations to use a new method for calculating and distributing the Pick (n) Pool with the pool split into three share, one major sharing having a carryover, if any, and two minor shares.
These changes offer greater flexibility, greater standardization in display rules and introduce new concepts to host a Pick (n) pool. The amending language to the Pick (n) pool rules will soon be available online at Association of Racing Commissioners International Model Rules.
Should any Canadian race-course association have a recommendation to add or to change any type of pari-mutuel pool rule, please contact CPMA.
