Track Record Falls After 14 Years
It may not have been the biggest news in the racing industry last night, but a track record that had stood for 14 years bit the dust in a $7,000 conditioned race on Monday evening (July 20).
On Monday, Credit Fashion crossed the finish line faster than any four-year-old trotting horse in the history of Northfield Park when he won a $7,000 conditioned race in 1:53.3.
The clocking broke the 1:56.3 former track record which was held by Patio Pete, who had turned the trick in August of 2001.
Martin Yoder of Kidron, Ohio owns Credit Fashion. Jeff Hochstetler is his trainer and Aaron Merriman was in the sulky for the winning drive.
Credit Fashion, by Credit Winner, started from Post 2 and led his competition through fractions of :28.1, :57 and 1:25. He finished off the record mile by coming home with a :28.3 final panel. There was never an anxious moment for the winner, who bested his competition by more than 11 lengths.
Credit Fashion has recorded two wins from three starts so far this season. Monday’s victory was his sixth career win from what was his 14th career start.
Credit Fashion’s career bankroll now sits at $305,751. He was sent off as the race favourite and returned $3.20 to win.
