Stacked Group For Summerside Feature

A trio of Governor’s Plate consolation starters will duke it out again at Red Shores Summerside during the first Wednesday card of the season.

Machinthesand, a third-place finisher on Saturday night in the $5,000 consolation, has drawn Post 6 for owners Noonan Holding Ltd. along with Russell and Karen Noonan. The Hughie Murphy trainee will be reunited with Kenny Murphy in Race 11.

From 14 starts this season, the son of Mach Three has five victories and has banked over $6,600.

He will not have it easy, as he will face off against a pair of familiar foes, including Outside The Wire, who has drawn into Post 4 for owners Andrew Avery and John Brodrick. He finished sixth in the consolation and will once again have the services of the 2015 Basil Whelan Memorial winner, Gilles Barrieau.

Barrieau currently holds a one-win lead over Corey Macpherson and Marc Campbell for top driver for the Summerside meet. He boasts a .540 UDR and is winning at a 44 per cent clip.

Oh To Be Me has drawn Post 3 for owner, trainer and driver Gary Chappell. The top class also features Cambest Kisser, Carrera Angel and Motorino.

The card will also feature the first two-year-old winner of the 2015 season at Red Shores' Summerside, Instant Shadow. The youngster has drawn the rail in the evening’s fifth race.

Post time for the 12-dash card is set for 7 p.m.
