Rising Danish Star To Ontario
Karoline Østergaard Nielsen, a rising star in Denmark, will be coming to Ontario for two upcoming Racing Under Saddle events.
She will make her debut on July 18, 2015 in the RUS Ontario Mid-Season race being held in conjunction with the Georgian Downs Horse Festival.
Karoline is from Herfølge, Denmark and has been riding Monte since 2012. She has traveled to Sweden to ride and will now add Canada to her accomplishments. Riding Monte has been a lifelong dream for Østergaard Nielsen, who began working in the Standardbred industry as a young girl, next earning her Monte license in 2011. It was not until 2012 that she rode her first Monte race and since that time she has looked nowhere but forward earning 3 wins including a win racing for 15,000 SEK.
Karoline is only 23 years old but has big dreams. While she doesn’t currently train or own any horses herself, she hopes one day to own her own Monte horse and compete in the biggest races. The Monte scene in Europe and the Scandinavian countries offers as much prestige and reward as harness racing. With that in mind she has set her sights on gaining as much experience as possible, and maybe one day passing her knowledge on to other youngsters.
Fans can catch Karoline Østergaard Nielsen at the next two RUS Ontario races, July 18 at Georgian Downs in Barrie and July 24 at Grand River Raceway in Elora.
