Without Barfield, Sunday Still A Success
Jesse Barfield may not have been at Clinton Raceway on Sunday (July 12), but that didn’t stop it from being a successful fundraising day for Clinton Minor Baseball.
Officials with Clinton Raceway have announced that race fans helped raise more than $7,000 for Clinton Minor Baseball. According to a Clinton release, the funds will be directed towards the installation of new lights for the baseball diamond.
Race fans lucked out on Sunday, as another beautiful sunny afternoon made for a great live race card.
A total of 10 races went postward, and the program kicked off with a $38 winner. Junior Jet, who is co-owned by Catherine McClure and trainer George McClure, came from off the pace for driver Lorne House to record a 2:00.4 win by open lengths. The four-year-old Jeremes Jet gelding was making his lifetime pari-mutuel debut.
The Clinton release states that plenty of new race fans were spotted among the crowd, and visitors were encouraged to ‘Bring a Friend’ as part of Standardbred Canada's initiative.
