Kawartha Lands Three More Dates
Officials with Kawartha Downs have announced that they have been advised that the track’s 2015 racing season has been extended for three additional Saturday nights.
The additional dates will make the last night of live racing for the KD season to be on Saturday, October 24. First-race post time will remain at 7 p.m.
“We’re very pleased with this news and the response of the Ontario Racing Commission to our request for additional race dates,” noted track owner Skip Ambrose. “Thanks to our patrons, horsepeople and staff, the great results we’re having here at Kawartha Downs in terms of attendance and on-track handle are not going unnoticed.”
Earlier this year, Kawartha Downs had been awarded a total of 18 race dates, the same number as 2014. Racing will now be offered at the five-eighths-mile facility every Saturday night (with the exception of September 19, when there is a car race taking place at the track) until October 24.
Upcoming special events at the Fraserville, Ont. racetrack include the July 18 card which features the Ontario Sires Stakes along with Kawartha Downs’ anniversary celebrations; August 1, the always-popular Family Night, and September 5 when the track will celebrate Goodtimes, the Hall of Fame trotter, with the inaugural Goodtimes Trot.
