Warrawee Koine Returns

She has had a month of rest and relaxation, and now she’s back. Warrawee Koine, the unbeaten big black filly who recently swept the Silver Reign series at Woodbine, will be back at the Rexdale oval on Monday night

, April 27, for the $20,000 first leg of the Ontario Sired Spring Series for sophomore pacing fillies.

A daughter of Astreos, Warrawee Koine has been a pleasant surprise for Dr. Michael Wilson, whose Warrawee Farm in Rockwood, Ontario bred the filly. She went unraced at two, but as a three-year-old she has so far been unstoppable, scoring four victories in four starts and collecting over $50,000 for her owners and trainer Gregg McNair.

Warrawee Koine will go postward in the first of two Spring Series splits (race #3, post time 8:02 p.m.), with Mike Saftic at the lines. She’s currently rated the even-money favourite in that field.

In the second Spring Series split (race #5, post time 8:46 p.m.), Yellow Diamond is expected to sparkle. The three-year-old daughter of Western
Terror scored her first stakes victory, a nine-length romp in the $76,000 Tender Loving Care Final at The Meadowlands, in a new stakes record time of 1:51.3, on February 20. Since then she has moved north of the border to the shedrow of Casie Coleman, and won her qualifier at Mohawk on April 20 by a seven-and-a-quarter-length margin. She’ll have Mark MacDonald to guide her on Monday night.

The Ontario Sired Spring Series for sophomore pacing fillies will continue on Monday, May 4 at Mohawk Racetrack.

There is absolutely no money in this game anymore.Check this race out with Warrawee Koine, the last two races she has gone off at 50cents.What smart bettor bets more then they are going to win????What are you selling here?Come to the races bet the horse try and win your money back?Sit there for 40 minutes till the next race!

The three horse runs at Georgian downs for 10500 as a 55cent favorite, does nothing and this week will run for almost double the purse!!!The six horse wins at woodbine for 17thou then runs the horse at Kawartha Downs for 77hundred at 95cent favorite!!The eight horse wins at woodine for 17thou then a week later runs at georgian downs for 85hun at odds of 2 to 1 does nothing then puts the horse up to 19thou!!

What chance does a handicapper have if the trainer is running a "prep"at 85hundred today, with his sights on a 19thousand dollar race next week?!?This sport needs purse parity between tracks.

Why is there such a huge purse discrepancy between WEGs nw1(17thou),KD(77hun),Georgian(85hun),Flam(6500)?Same Conditions????
If the "B" tracks can't afford to raise their nw1,then the onus should be for WEG to bring it more in line with the other tracks.

How about this,if a trainer wants to drop his/her horse more then "4000 bucks" in purse, then the horse must run with a claim even if it is running in non-winners.This rule would not restrict the trainers movement,it's just making sure that they are putting their horse where it's best suited. Also it would probably eliminate 40 percent of the 4/5s.You don't see NFL teams play a college team one week then a high school team the next!

I don't blame the trainers. The trainers job is to maximize return on investment. They are just exploiting WEAK rules. How does the racing industry maintain integrity when one week a horse can run for "x amount of dollars" do nothing and a week later is allowed to run for 2,3 maybe 4 times the amount. If a horse doesn't win,it shouldn't be allowed to run for 1 dollar more next time out.Your rewarding mediocrity.

The enemy isn't the lotteries or casino's,harness racing enemy is WITHIN.The tracks don't work together!!
