Red Shores' Canada Day Pace Set

Motorino and driver Terry Gallant have received the top call for Wednesday’s Canada Day Pace at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway.

First-race post time for the afternoon card is 1 p.m.

Motorino, a four-year-old black gelding that is co-owned by Gallant and Eric Johnston, Summerside, PE, gets to sidestep heavy weights Big Surf and D GS Camme. Courtesy of his 1:55 clocking on his past chart line, he has received the 5-2 favouritism on the morning line odds.

The six-horse field has American Captain off the rail for catch-driver Kenny Arsenault. Oh To Be Me (who will be driven by Gary Chappell) and Sunday’s top-class winner Machinthesand (Norris Rogers) will be back in to compete in the traditional holiday classic. Foxyhall Racing stable will send out Narragansett (Jason Hughes) with Outside The Wire (Marc Campbell) completing the roster.

In other action, the veteran campaigner Life Savior will be going for his third victory in a row and lifetime win No. 55 for driver Corey MacPherson, owner Darla MacEachern and trainer Duane MacEachern.

Tobins Lady is listed as the one to beat in the Woodmere Rose Memorial (Race 5). The filly, who has five top-three finishes from six starts, will start from Post 3 for trainer-driver Jason Hughes.

Customers are enjoying many on-track and off track wagering promotions in 2015, including a new Pik 3, Pik 4 and Super High 5. The mix also includes Wild Horses jackpot tags starting on Race 2, a Pick 5 ballot with a $500 prize, Play 4 and Super Pack tied to on track prize giveaways.

The countdown is on for Governor’s Plate Week 2015. The action will get underway on Sunday, July 12 and will wrap up on Saturday, July 18 with the 47th running of the Governor’s Plate, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge.
