Two-Year-Olds On Display At Truro
On Saturday, June 27, race fans at Truro Raceway had the chance to see some of the up and coming local talent head behind the gate for the first time. Race fans witnessed 12 two-year-old colts and fillies debut over the Truro oval to kick start their freshman campaigns.
The first "Baby Race" of the day had three starters line up behind the gate. Brookdale Liz with driver Doug Polley Jr., Howmacfiesty and Danny Romo, and Lyndale Magic and Pooker McCallum. Howmacfiesty, a filly by Carnivore out of Bradelle, led at all quarters going in fractions of :32.3, 1:04.4, 1:36.2 and finishing her mile in 2:07.
The second race of the day went to Dare You, a colt by Driven To Win out of Darla Hanover. Dare You and Romo crossed the wire ahead of Mr Horton, driven by McCallum, and Sugar Crisp in rein to Paul Langille. Second race fractions were :31.2, 1:02.3, 1:33.3 and 2:03.1.
Darren Crowe aboard Queenofthedreams, a brown filly by If I Can Dream out of Rhinestone Scooter, beat the boys in great fashion in the fastest mile of the day, 2:03 flat. Queenofthedreams lead the boys at every call through fractions of :31, 1:02.4 and 1:33.3. Next Issue and Romo finished second, with Hardie Rock and Todd Trites picking up the show spot.
