A Prince For Pampered Princess

One of the most accomplished and well-bred trotting fillies in recent memory has made her transition to the broodmare shed, and her owners are extremely pleased-->.

Pampered Princess, the former World Record holder and divisional honours winner in both Canada and the U.S. at two and three, recently gave birth to her first foal - a colt by Muscles Yankee, born on March 29. Co-owner David Anderson gave Trot Insider an update on both mare and foal.

"Pampered is a terrific mom and her colt is absolutely outstanding," glowed Anderson. "I know that nothing enhances beauty more than ownership, but for people who know me I am very critical when it comes to confirmation. At this early stage, he appears nearly impossible to fault.

"When he was born, he was up nursing in 20 minutes and stayed up for an hour and a half before he went back down. I'm not sure if this means anything, but we have foaled over 2,000 mares on the farm over the years and never had one do this! He is truly amazing, this one."

Anderson also told Trot Insider that the $1.7-million winning daughter of Andover Hall would be bred back to Muscles Yankee in 2009.

Two other O'Brien Award winning mares owned by the Anderson family also had 2009 foals recently. Pacing standout Cabrini Hanover had her second foal - an Art Major filly - in mid-March and will enter the court of Somebeachsomewhere this year, while trotting mare Southwind Allaire had a bay colt by Andover Hall and will be bred back to Andover Hall.

Are there any future O'Brien Award winners in training for Anderson? The Aurora resident told Trot Insider that his two-year-olds for 2009 might not be around for the earlier stakes.

"I just returned from White Birch Farm this week where we have three babies with Trond Smedshammer who are training well. They are all staked late so you won't see them until the latter part of the year - hopefully. We also have a filly with John Bax who is training well by all reports."
