Favourites Stay Focused In Stallion Stake Elims
There were no surprises in a pair of $7,100 BC Stallion Stake eliminations for four-year-old pacing mares on Friday night at Fraser Downs. Heavy favourites Luvinajiffy and Red Star Diamond led the way from start to finish in their respective splits keeping their backers content

In the card’s opener, Luvinajiffy pulled off her third consecutive win in 1:56.3 without facing any serious challengers.
With Serge Masse at the lines for trainer, breeder and co-owner Reginald Wonnenberg, Luvinajiffy was the first to show moving into command from post position No. 3. The daughter of Village Jiffy – Crimson Beloved, who was sent postward as the 1-5 favourite, laid down panels of :28.3, :58 and 1:27 before pulling away by two and three-quarter lengths for the triumph.
Pureform Goodtogo (Carl Sibiga) and Austinsfirstpeace (Bill Davis) finished second and third.
Gail Brassington of Sidney, B.C. shares ownership of the five-time winner who has banked $27,750 in her career.
In the second elim, Red Star Diamond took a new mark of 1:57.1 with her fourth lifetime score for trainer Robert Merschback and owner and breeder Robert Murphy of Surrey, B.C.
David McKellar and Red Star Diamond, a daughter of Village Jiffy – Bantry, crossed over from Post 5 beating out her rivals Pureform Bunny (Sibiga) and Pureform Wildcard (Kevin Anderson) for the top spot. After taking control, the 4-5 favourite led the way past the first quarter in :28 and the half in :58.1. Southside Liz (Keith Clark) moved first up from fourth en route to three-quarters in 1:27, but Red Star Diamond held strong to win by a length and a quarter.
Southside Liz was the runner-up with Judges Discretion (Jim Marino) following her cover to pick up third.
The win pushed Red Star Diamond’s earnings to $33,725.
