A Bankable Investment
Every little girl’s dream is to own a pony and now New York banker, Heather Takahashi, has made that dream a reality
.
At the age of 12, the Toronto native began to research pedigrees and finally on Sept. 6, 2001 Takahashi purchased a mare named Life In Fiction at the Woodbine Yearling Sale with the plan to breed her and race her offspring.
Shadowless, trained by veteran David Bell, now races at Woodbine Racetrack and Takahashi travels up to Toronto every time he races.
So far, Takahashi’s $22,500 investment has earned her about $350,000 in winnings.
"He's my baby, really," Takahashi told the Toronto Star. "These days, any happy ending in our business is good to hear."
