Grand Slam For Exhilarated
The winning streak is now four and counting for pacing mare Exhilarated, who has yet to taste defeat since being claimed and relocating to the stable of trainer Carmen Auciello.
Squaring off with just four foes in Sunday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 class at Georgian Downs, Exhilarated got away fourth and remained there through first half fractions of :28.1 and :56.1. Bestulldotanite supplying the speed on the lead, and she was still in command despite feeling heavy pressure from the first-over prompted, Exhilarated, to the three-quarter pole in 1:24.2. Exhilarated used a :28.3 kicker to draw clear by 2-3/4 lengths over Windsong Glamorous in 1:53. Taking home third prize was Back Yard Baby.
Sent off as the 1-2 choice, the four-year-old daughter of Mach Three-Animated Art improved her 2015 record to 4-2-0 from 10 starts with the win. She’s potted more than $25,000 this season and close to $100,000 in her career. She’s owned by David Snowden of Bowmanville, Ontario.
Tail R Swift powered to a 1:56 tally in Sunday’s $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 at Georgian Downs for the tandem of driver J.R. Plante and trainer Stephane Larocque. The six-year-old daughter of Whosurboy-Ember was fifth through first-half fractions of :27.3 and :57, but she roared to the front in the backstretch and took the field to the three-quarter pole in 1:26. She cruised home in a :30-second clip to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Drivingthedragon N in 1:56. Trama Unit was third.
Meadowgem Farm of Osgoode, Ontario owns the 18-time winner, who bumped her overall bankroll to $106,940 with the win. She’s now 3-for-19 on the season.
