Apparently chicken racing has never been too popular nor has it been a threat to replace harness racing but I was able to find this one interesting photo. It was taken October 22, 1988 at the Waterford, Ont. Pumpkin Festival and the driver is listed as Ancel Kerr. Any further information such as quarter times, mutuel payouts or other results from that day seem to be difficult to locate. In a statement to reporters Kerr stated "this powerfully built specially-bred chicken can reach speeds of 20 m.p.h. under the right conditions, when the ear plugs are pulled." (Simcoe Reformer photo)
