Mares Pacing Series Kicks Off Sunday
A total of 15 distaffers have been entered to contest the first leg of the Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series, which will be contested in a pair of $3,465 divisions this Sunday (June 21) at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway on Prince Edward Island.
The series is co-sponsored by Standardbred Canada, Red Shores and the other participating host tracks. For complete information on the series, including dates, host tracks and conditions, click here.
A field of seven mares has been drawn to face the gate in the first division, which has been slotted as Race 8 on the 13-dash card. First-race post time is 1 p.m.
Seven-year-old E Dees Cam bay Dirt Track Momma (PP5, Marc Campbell, 5-2) has been installed as the morning line choice and will be steered by her trainer, Marc Campbell. The career earner of more than $88,000 in purses has raced three times this year and has recorded a win and a second-place finish. The 26-time career winner is looking to improve upon her recent fifth-place finish in a fillies and mares’ open event at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Eight lasses will contest the second division, which has been carded as Race 11.
Five-year-old Brandons Cowboy bay Rose Valley (PP2, Kenny Arsenault, 5-2) has drawn the morning line favouritism in the second division for trainer Michael Campbell. She has made two starts this year and has hit the board once, as she paced to a second-place finish in her last start at the CDP.
