Sylvain Filion has cleaned up at the O’Brien Awards in recent years, and the way he’s been piling up the wins in recent weeks on the WEG circuit – he might be well on his way to nabbing some more hardware.

Filion celebrated a five-win performance during Tuesday’s 10-race card at Mohawk Racetrack, and in doing to he watched his seasonal purse earnings climb just shy of the $2-million mark.

The Quebec native took the opener with Grana Padanno (1:56.2 - $42.60), and he returned to take the checkered flag with P L Idaho (1:51 - $5.10) in Race 4. He came right back in Race 5 with Extracurricular (1:54.3 - $24.90), and then again in Race 6 with Crown Isle (1:52.1 - $27.10). He then clicked with Sugarsam (1:52 - $7.40) in Race 9, and thus completed the five-bagger.

Filion leads all WEG reinsmen when it comes to winning races this season. The career winner of 7,821 races has racked up nearly $88 million in purse earnings to date.
