'Camelot' Clicks In Charlottetown

Romance In Camelot made her first start in Charlottetown a winning one taking the mares open in 1:58.1 Thursday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Terry Gallant engineered the wining trip for Romance In Camelot, who is trained by Earl Watts for owner Claude Poirier of Havre-Aux-Maisons, Quebec. Rose Valley was second with Willow Warrior completing the top three finishers.

Balanchine, under the command of Ron Matheson, recorded the fastest mile of the night stopping the timer is 1:57.3. The veteran pacer earned his 59th lifetime win for trainer Jackie Matheson and the ownership team of Mike Pollard and Joey Gallant.

Pleasure Girls and Corey MacPherson won the Open Trot in 2:00.4 for owner Shelley Gass of Cornwall, PEI.

Howmacs Pride with Kenny Arsenault driving won their assignment for owners Wade Peconi and Howmac Farms Ltd. That ownership group was back in the winner’s circle with Howmac Missy after Marc Campbell drove the mare to a 1:58.4 victory.

Campbell, Matheson and MacPherson had driving doubles while trainer Jackie Matheson had two training scores.
