Dresden Showcases Century-Old Sulky
Even though Mother Nature was the big winner of the first scheduled card of racing at Dresden Raceway, this week’s card of racing is expected to be an exciting one.
The week will be filled with giveaways and lots of tradition.
Dresden Raceway will become the new home to a sulky that is 130 years old. The family of the late Bill Townsend have donated the race bike to Dresden Raceway to honour the local roots of harness racing.
The sulky was manufactured at Dresden’s own Rudd Carriage Factory in the late 1800s and was acquired by the Townsend family in the mid 1900s.
The unveiling will kick off 2015 season that will see t-shirts, cooler bags and many more giveaways.
Ten races are scheduled for the day. Post time is 1:30 p.m.
