Mares Open To Dirt Track Momma
Dirt Track Momma used her powerful finishing kick to capture Thursday’s $2,250 Mares Open in a solid time of 1:58.2 at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Marc Campbell was in the bike behind Dirt Track Momma, who defeated the dead-heating duo of Willow Warrior (Mark Bradley) and Brodys Leona (Corey MacPherson).
Jonah Moase of Cornwall, PEI owns the seven-year-old daughter of E Dees Cam-Gushing Grace. It was her first win of the season and the 26th of her career. Her bankroll climbed to $88,375 with the victory.
Long-shot Machinthesand surprised his competition after making a three-high move en route to the three-quarter pole and then marching to an impressive score of 1:56.1 in the back-up class for driver Corey MacPherson, trainer Mark Bradley and the ownership group of Noonan Holdings Ltd- Russell and Karen Noonan.
Cabo Pan Lucas (Danny MacDonald) and IDK (Vince Poulton), both trained by Gary Poulton, completed the triactor ticket.
MacPherson, who had a driving double, equaled that clocking as the fastest mile of the night aboard JRs Hurricane for the Jean Charles Belliveau Stable of Scoudouc, NB.
In other action, Money Show, under the command of Brian Andrew, and Caliban Hanover, with Ron Gass in the bike, won their respective trot assignments while Brief Bliss and Stephen Quinn won the Canadian Housing Federation Pace.
Perfect Escape, owned by Jack Keenan of Stratford, PEI and Joseph Dahl of Burlington, Ontario, were victorious in the Blaine MacPherson 60th Birthday Pace for trainer Jackie Matheson and driver Ron Matheson. MacPherson, along with family and friends, were trackside for the cooler presentation.
