Ultimate Desire Goes Back To Back
Parked the first 3/8ths, Ultimate Desire showed his heart and talent by drawing off to win his second straight in the Vesuvio Grande Pace, a series for three-year-old colts and geldings, Tuesday at The Meadows
. Monster Dragon took the other $15,000 division, giving Ed Hensley a driving sweep of the second leg.
Ultimate Desire, who romped last week by 7-1/4 lengths, was sent off the 1-2 favourite. But post position 9 and the sloppy track conspired to keep him wide. Once on the lead, he thwarted the first-over thrust of Battleship Kelly and prevailed by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:55.4. Allamerican Sweep closed well for place, with Promiscuous third.
Hensley trains Ultimate Desire, a son of Real Desire-Bolero Ultima, for Pamela and Hei Mitchell.
Monster Dragon enjoyed a pocket trip behind Mobile, then brushed by that rival in the lane to triumph by a nose in 1:54.4. Pepperwood Pete was third.
William Rhoades trains Monster Dragon, a gelded son of Dragon Again-Hockey Fan, for Charles and Donna Martin.
The series final is set for next Tuesday.
Tony Hall drove four winners on the 14-race card.
