Field Set For Grand River Media Race

Local media celebs will put down the mic and pick up the lines Friday, June 5 during Grand River Raceway’s second annual Media Race.

Each media personality will be paired up with a pro driver and both will take a seat in a custom two-person jog cart. The exhibition race substitutes purse money for bragging rights, and all of the personalities are preparing for the winner’s circle.

Kelly Waterhouse returns to defend her title, having won last year’s inaugural edition with driver Bob McClure. Waterhouse has been working locally in the media for the last 10 years and is the news director for The Grand 92.9 FM. Waterhouse loves horse racing and cannot wait to get back on the track.

Her media celeb rivals are:

• Barry Finn; the editor at the Rider newspaper
• Gayle O’Brien; Morning Buzz personality on 107.5 Dave FM
• Jaime Myslik; Reporter for the Wellington Advertiser

All media participants and their guests will dine the Captain’s Quarters and receive a tour of the facility prior to the media race, which kicks off after Race 9. Grand River Raceway patrons are invited to fill out the media race cheerleaders ballot found in their program for a chance to win betting vouchers.

All of this action launches the first Fun & Frivolity Friday race night of the season. First-race post time is 6:30 p.m.
