Embassy Seelster Repeats At Harrington
J&M Racing Inc's Embassy Seelster successfully defended her turf Tuesday as a repeat winner in the $16,000 featured Mares Open at Harrington Raceway in 1:52.3.
The five-year-old Modern Art mare set a new track record last week with a 1:51.3 triumph.
Dismissed at odds of 4-1, Embassy Seelster left from post position six for driver George Dennis and made the lead before the opening quarter mile in :27.4. She led the field of six through a half mile in :56.4 and 1:25, while Star Keeper sat in second throughout. Embassy Seelster extended her lead in the stretch and held off Star Keeper for the win. Lounge Act was third.
Trained by Doug Lewis, it was the 13th career win for Embassy Seelster and one of three driving wins on the night for Dennis. Allan Davis also had three winners on the card. She paid $10.
Jim Morand, Montrell Teague and Tony Morgan each had driving doubles.
