Pompano Features Trots N Slots Sequel
Diva Diva and Slave Dream captured their respective $20,000 divisions in the second leg of the Trots N Slots Trotting Series, which went to the gate on Monday evening
at Pompano Park.
Diva Diva posted a solid, gate-to-wire score over her male rivals in a time of 1:55. She chopped out panels of :28, :57.3 and 1:25.4 for trainer/driver Andy Santeramo before kicking home in :29.1 to secure the win over El Hombre Dan and Farmer Jones.
It was a lifetime mark for the six-year-old daughter of Yankee Paco, who is owned by the Joel Benson Stable of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
In the fifth race second division of the series, track record holder Slave Dream extended his win streak to three-in-a-row thanks to a 1:55.4 victory in the second division. With David Ingraham at the helm, the Jean Beaulieu pupil survived a first-over journey en route to posting the neck decision over Too Salty. O Georgie rounded out the top three.
Owned by Franco Cianci, Isidoro Russo and Vincenzo Monticciolo of Quebec, the four-year-old son of Pearsall Hanover has yet to finish worse than third in his last eight starts.
A classic match-up will take place next Monday, April 27 as Slave Dream takes on Diva Diva in the $42,500 final of the Trots N Slots Series.
The odds are 5,040 to 1 of it ever happening and it did Monday in the second race at Pompano Park. The order of finish of the race was in perfect order, 1 through 7.
Doll R General, the second choice in the race and driver Anthony Napolitano led from start to finish, winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.3. The official order was then post 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
