Prepping For ‘The Cup’
The countdown continues to this year’s Pepsi North America Cup, and a pair of talented sophomores turned in eye-catching performances during Monday evening’s 11-race card at Mohawk Racetrack.
The Wayfaring Man, who is listed at 50-1 in Trot Magazine's Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, took over command at the half and cruised to a 1:52.1 triumph in his $18,000 conditioned assignment.
Jack Moiseyev worked out the winning trip for the son of Dragon Again-Armbro Wichita, who is trained by Nicky Comegna for owner Bruno Comegna of Burlington, Ontario. The colt owns a 2-1-0 record from four starts this season. He’s banked more than $85,000 to date.
Split The House remains undefeated thanks to a 1:52.2 victory in his $17,000 conditioned assignment. The son of Rocknroll Hanover-Shake That Junk, who is 100-1 in the Spring Book, tracked cover for driver Randy Waples before rallying home in :27.4 and winning by 4-3/4 lengths.
Trainer James ‘Friday’ Dean shares ownership on the colt with Scott Horner of Toronto and Peter Milligan of Mississauga, Ontario. Now a perfect 3-for-3, Split The House has stashed away $24,000 to date.
