Wiggle It Jiggleit To Make Indiana Debut
The opening round of Indiana Sires Stakes action for the three-year-old pacing colts will highlight the star-studded 14-race card at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Saturday, May 23.
With four $20,000 divisions set to go postward, the Hoosier state’s best sophomore pacing colts will all be competing to earn a spot in the first of five $75,000 Indiana Sires Stakes finals slated for May 30 at Hoosier Park.
Indiana’s two-year-old pacing colt of the year, Freaky Feet Pete will make his three-year-old debut at Hoosier Park in the 11th race of the evening and will start from post eight. With regular driver Trace Tetrick at the lines, Freaky Feet Pete has been enlisted as the 3-5 morning line favourite in the field of nine.
Trained by Larry Rheinheimer, the sophomore pacer has won nine of 10 career starts and earned $261,950 for owners Mary Jo Rheinheimer and Marty Rheinheimer. He set his lifetime mark, a 1:50.3 clocking, in a division of the Indiana Sires Stakes at Hoosier Park last September.
The son of Rockin Image-Skyway Lori prepped for his first seasonal start with two qualifiers at Hoosier Park. He was victorious in his first qualifier of the season in 1:52.3 and then followed up with a 1:51.3 winning qualifier over a track rated good.
“He’s come back really good, I’m really excited about how well he’s come back this year,” Tetrick noted after his most recent qualifier. “He was never hot or unmanageable, but this year he has really let me drive him and rate him. I think he’s matured and he’s just one of those horses that doesn’t ever seem to get tired.”
Also entered among the talented group of sophomore pacing colts is George Teague Jr.’s stable standout, Wiggle It Jiggleit, who will look to go nine-for-nine in his career in the 12th race on the program. In what will be his first start over the Hoosier Park oval, Wiggle It Jiggleit will start from post one and has been installed as the overwhelming 1-5 morning line choice with Montrell Teague in the bike.
In his most recent start, the homebred son of Mr Wiggles-Mozzi Hanover recorded a world record mile at Harrington Raceway on May 11 in 1:49. His 14-length romp established a new world standard for three-year-olds on a half-mile track and broke the overall track record at Harrington.
The gelding has won all eight of his starts this year, including the Buddy Gilmour Series championship at The Meadowlands in March. Owned by George Teague Jr., Wiggle It Jiggleit has earned $94,742 lifetime. He remains eligible to the 2015 Pepsi North America Cup.
Saturday’s 14-race card is set to get underway at 5:15 p.m. Hoosier Park’s ‘Family Fun Days’ return this Saturday and will continue each weekend throughout the entirety of the harness racing season. Activities will include a bounce house, face painting, live entertainment, games and winner’s circle giveaways.
