Confederation Cup Draw Complete
The anticipated post position draw for the $226,575 Confederation Cup for four-year-old pacers took place at noon today (Wednesday, May 13) at Flamboro Downs.
The Confederation Cup finale will be raced this coming Sunday (May 17) at the Dundas, Ont. half-mile course. Officials with Flamboro have told Trot Insider that the rest of track’s Sunday card will be drawn on Thursday and that a few more entries are needed. To check out the condition sheet, click here.
The draw was broadcast live by CHCH News and was conducted by Flamboro track announcer Gary Guy and Dave Stewart of the Ontario Racing Commission.
The Jeff Bamond-trained and Corey Callahan-driven Ideal Cowboy, who finished third in his elimination, has landed the coveted rail spot for the final.
The elimination winners did not fare so well in the draw.
Last weekend in the eliminations, the Ron Burke-trained and Yannick Gingras-driven All Bets Off established a new track record for aged pacers, as the Bettors Delight horse paced to a powerful 1:50.4 front-end victory in the first $20,000 elim. All Bets Off has drawn Post 5 for the final.
Last weekend’s second elim saw the Tina Seekman-trained and Billy Davis Jr.-driven Lets Drink On It step to a five-length win in 1:51.4. The Art Official horse was out and charging three-wide at the three-quarters pole and motored off to a powerful victory. Lets Drink On It has drawn the outside Post 8 for the final.
