Faves Deliver In Preferreds
The betting public was bang on when it came to coming up with a winner in Tuesday’s Preferred events at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Savage Seelster, who was sent off as the 4-5 choice in his assignment, went to the front and didn’t look back in the Horses & Geldings Preferred 3.
Trevor Henry rolled the first-time Lasix user to the front and the gelding slashed his way through fractions of :27.3, :57.3 and 1:25.4 before using a :29-second closing quarter to win by 3-3/4 lengths over Stoney Durkin in 1:54.4. Beach Hero rallied late to finish third.
Tracy Wilcox trains the five-year-old son of Camluck-Slick Gaited for Kristina Wilcox of Windsor and Nancy Rivard of Tilbury, Ontario. The 11-time winner, who upped his lifetime earnings to $57,235 with the victory, is 2-for-7 this season.
Whosurpal also used a ‘catch me if you can’ approach to perfection in his $7,500 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 tilt.
Bob McClure put the pedal to the metal with the five-year-old son of Whosurboy-Galyn Seelster and after throwing down panels of :26.4, :56.1 and 1:25.1 the gelding used a :30.1 kicker to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Intrigued Intended. Seymour Dinomyte took home the show dough.
Sent off as the 9-5 favourite, the Dean Nixon pupil won for the third time this season and for the 12th time in his career. ICR Racing of Pefferlaw, Ontario owns the career winner of $71,493.
