McClure Wins Five Races At Flamboro
Bob McClure was the driving star of the night at Flamboro Downs, steering five winners on the 11-race Saturday card.
McClure began his winning crusade by sweeping the early Daily Double with a pair of upset winners, three-year-old pacing filly Jaclyn Hanover ($23) from the Jack Darling stable and trotting mare Magic Patch ($18.40) for trainer Mark Johnson.
He also won the fifth race with George Laurignano's 11-year-old pacing mare Lotteria ($9.50), the seventh race with three-year-old trotting colt Fort York ($3.90), who is now two-for-two in his career for conditioner Craig Gilmour, and the ninth with three-year-old trotting filly Allies Gift ($3.30) for Luc Ouellette.
The 24-year-old Orangeville, Ont. reinsman has cracked the top 10 Canadian leaderboard with 89 wins so far this year. Having earned 53 of his wins at Flamboro Downs, McClure ranks third in the local standings behind Billy Davis Jr. and defending driving champion Robert Shepherd.
McClure is coming off his first million-dollar season in 2014 in which he drove a career-high 214 winners.
