Record Mile For Lease Ness Monster
Lease Ness Monster crossed the finish line faster than any four-year-old mare in the history of Northfield Park when she won Thursday’s $13,000 Fillies and Mares Open.
Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. hustled Lease Ness Monster to the lead from Post 1 and after whacking out fractions of :27.3, :55.4 and 1:23.1 she slipped home in a :29-second clip en route to posting the 1:52.1 record-setting performance. She was six lengths better than Fashion Fluzzy, with Get Your Armor finishing third.
David Waltz of Clayton, Michigan owns Lease Ness Monster, who is trained by Scott Bateson. The daughter of Lease On Life-Sheza Hot Monster is now 3-for-11 this season. It was the seventh career tally for the career winner of $65,368. She paid $5.
The clocking eclipsed the former mark of 1:52.2 set by Dont Blame Her and driver Greg Grismore in 2007.
