Cimeronken On A Roll
When it comes to productivity in the Preferred ranks in Ontario, not many can match what trotter Cimeronken has been able to do in recent weeks.
The Daryl Roberts trainee came into his Thursday evening assignment at Flamboro Downs with four consecutive top-two finishes, and he pushed that number to five thanks to his down-the-road score in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Handicap.
Billy Davis, Jr. put Cimeronken on the motor right from the outset and together they sliced out fractions of :29.2, 1:00 and 1:28 before scooting home in :29.1 for the 1:57.1 decision. Incredable Frank was a lapped-on second, with Lexis D J finishing third.
Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, Cimeronken posted his third win of the year for owner/breeder Denise Anderson of Mossley, Ontario. The six-year-old gelded son of Ken Warkentin-Ms Biynka, who is an 18-time winner to date, now boasts a bankroll that stands at $207,385.
The $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers went to Shadows Wonder in 1:54.4.
Tyler Moore got away fourth with the four-year-old Shadow Play-Putnams Wonder homebred before brushing her to the lead past the half in :56.1. She led past the three-quarter pole in 1:25.1 before using a :29.3 closing panel to win by a head over Winbak Your Kash. After Alimony was a lapped-on third.
Trained by Dr. Ian Moore, who shares ownership on the OSS grad with his wife, Nancy, and partner William Shearer, Shadows Wonder won for the ninth time in her career. The lion’s share of the loot lifted her career earnings close to $180,000.
