King Jr. Doubles Up In Open Ranks
The James King Jr. stable was triumphant in its second feature of the week at Harrington Raceway as Powerful Charger ($10.60, Victor Kirby) bested a field of five rivals Wednesday in the $16,000 Open Trot in 1:55.
The seven-year-old gelding sired by Powerful Emotion wore down pacesetter Traverse Seelster in deep stretch for the narrow win. Spunky Jack, who was second throughout most of the mile, held on for third. Last week's winner, I Like My Boss, finished fifth.
Owned by King Jr. and Tim Tetrick, Powerful Charger notched his fourth win of 2015 as his seasonal earnings inched closer to $50,000.
Trainer and co-owner King Jr. also prevailed in Monday’s featured race, the $16,000 Open Pace with Just A Jolt.
Trainer Tim Crissman had two winners on the program, both driven by Anthony Morgan. Tim Torbert also had a training double. Allan Davis and Victor Kirby each had a driving double.
