Sakic Seelster Rebounds In Open Trot
After self-destructing while on the lead in the March 30 edition of the $50,000 Open Trot at Woodbine Racetrack, Sakic Seelster returned to the seven-eighths mile oval looking to redeem himself for trainer Ben Baillargeon.
And redeem himself he did!
Sakic Seelster rolled to an ultra-impressive victory in 1:53.4 for owners Santo Vena of Brampton and Nunzio Vena of Bolton, Ontario.
Jack Moiseyev worked the five-year-old son of Eager Seelster into the pocket spot behind Stick Man Moe, who rolled the square gaiters to the opening post in :27.1. Moiseyev hit the throttle as soon as the field hit the backstretch, and it didn’t take long for Sakic Seelster to swap spots with Stick Man Moe.
Sakic Seelster hung up panels of :57 and 1:25.4 before roaring home in :28 seconds to win in convincing fashion over San Pail and Armbro Chronicle.
He just rolled off for no reason around the last turn last week, but he never thought about doing it tonight,” said driver Jack Moiseyev. “Ben [trainer Ben Baillargeon] told me to thaw him out a bit before the race. He gets a little stiff behind, so we warmed him up pretty good tonight. Around the last turn he thinks about making breaks sometimes, but if you get his attention and get him firing on all eight cylinders he’s tough to beat.”
It was the eighth win of the season in just 10 starts for Sakic Seelster, who now boasts $198,825 in career earnings.
