A Bold Vision for Harness Racing
While Carla Robin is new to the harness industry she is no stranger to horses or competing. She has been a competitive enthusiastic person all her life.
And she offers the kind of personality and fresh eyes that harness racing on the West Coast needs right now.
“I’ve loved horses since I was a little girl so my involvement with horses began at an early age—buying a farm, building a first class A circuit stable, breeding Welsh ponies for children’s hunter ponies and buying thoroughbreds off the track at Hastings for hunter prospects.
“Because of my business/entrepreneurial background I was asked to volunteer for the Economic Development Commission in the Township of Langley as the horse industry rep and helped write the Horse Industry Strategy. My daughters became very competitive in the hunters and jumpers nationally and internationally, and I learned everything I could about the structures and operations of the overall horse industry – from grassroots to Olympics.
“I’ve run competition show offices, and obtained money from the federal govt for horse event tourism for Thunderbird Show Park. I was honoured to receive the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal for my work in the horse community. All of this has led me to Harness Racing BC where I can put my skills and connections to use and do whatever I can to make significant changes.”
