Driver Paul MacKenzie completed a sweep of Wednesday night's late Daily Double at The Raceway at the Western Fair District driving Brandon Cs to victory in the $8,300 Preferred 3 Trot.

Owned by trainer Janice Annett and Marjorie Simmons, Brandon Cs survived a first over journey in the 10th race finale and wore down pacesetter Savthelstdancforme (:28.4, 1:01.1, 1:29.4) in the stretch for the two-length victory in 1:59.4. Favourite Keystone Orion overtook Savthelstdancforme in the final strides for the runner-up honours.

MacKenzie won the previous race going wire-to-wire with 1:59.4 winner Vijayscam ($21.70), who was making his first start off the claim for trainer/owner Donald Graham, while favourite Panedictine spoiled a two-hole trip when he broke stride turning for home and caused interference to most of the field.

The 'MacKenzie Daily Double' paid $250.00 for a $2 investment.

Bill Hamm's homebred Insincerity ($4.80) also went first up and was first home in an $8,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Handicap Pace, the second half of the favourite-filled early Daily Double ($8.90). She prevailed by three-quarters of a length in 1:57.1 over Goldies Mach, who had led through panels of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:27. Polk Dot Hanover finished two and three-quarter lengths behind in third. Bob McClure drove the six-year-old Rambaran mare, who has won 28 races in her career and over $185,000 in purses.

In addition to MacKenzie's driving double, Nick Steward steered two winners on the card while Western Fair's leading reinsman Alfie Carroll won three races in a row.
