Mainstream Spotlight For Female Star
She’s driven her mounts to more than $20 million in purse earnings over the course of her career. There are sensational photos of her in a racing accident from roughly one month ago. She was recently the subject of a mainstream media article, yet, there is a very good chance that many people in the North American harness racing industry don’t know who ‘she’ is.
The Sydney Morning Herald has run a profile piece on Kerryn Manning, the Down Under trainer/driver that won 371 races last year and just recently cheated serious injury during a racing accident.
Manning, who is now 38, won The Harley Davidson Trot in Norway with Knight Pistol in 1997. She was 21 at the time, and according to Harness Racing Australia chief executive Andrew Kelly, Manning is the only Australasian to have won a Scandinavian Group 1 race.
The Sydney Morning Herald report states that Manning has won more than 3,000 races in her career, and that she recently won the Hunter Cup with Arden Rooney, one of her trainees.
