Horsemen's Hockey Tourney Recap
Coming off of the finest year in his young driving career, where he won 246 races and compiled purses in excess of $1.5 million, Quebec native JR Plante has yet another reason to celebrate
. Yesterday in Oakville, Ont., Plante's Team Paralyzer captured the Open Division of the 2009 Horseman's Hockey Tournament.
Victories in the round-robin over perennial favourites Hudon's Hurricanes (8-1), the expansion franchise of Jr. McNair (5-3), coach Paul MacDonell's Capers (5-2), and defending champion Jamieson's Jet's (9-0) placed Team Paralyzer into the championship game for a rematch with MacDonell's Capers. When the dust settled it was Plante's team that skated away with the 4-1 victory.
The Oldtimers' Division had nine different entries for the 2009 edition (Clinton, NCRHHA, Dave Green, OHHA, Shane Arsenault, Georgian, London, Sr. McNair and Peterborough). The championship match was captured by Dave Green's squad which defeated Shane Arsenault's team in the process.
Special thanks go out once again to Dan Creighton and everyone else involved in putting on such a great day.
