American Venture Upsets In Philly Feature
Upper conditioned level pacers highlighted the Sunday afternoon card from Harrah's Philadelphia.
The wagering public placed their support behind 25-time winner Big Town Hero. The son of American Ideal was coming off of a troubled trip from an outside post at Yonkers Raceway in his most recent start.
As the wings closed, it was Chris Freck trainee Dial Or Nodial (Dave Miller) moving out for the lead, with Adventure Bound (Allan Davis) securing the pocket spot.
After an opening quarter of :27.3, Dial Or Nodial was able to rate the second quarter in :29.3 (:57.1). Ron Burke trainee Bat Boy Matt (Yannick Gingras) gained first over. He was followed by the upset-minded American Venture (Eric Carlson).
Off at odds 26-1, American Venture powered up three-wide and cleared before the three-quarters (1:24.1). It was a battle for the minors from there, as American Venture was well clear, winning by five lengths in the end, stopping the clock in 1:51. He returned $55.20.
The win was the 15th lifetime for the son of American Ideal, who is owned by Little Bapa LLC, and trained by Jennifer Sabot.
Dial Or Nodial was second, while Adventure Bound finished third.
