Goldstein Still Eyeing Elitlopp
While it is looking unlikely that trotting millionaire Arch Madness will be heading to Sweden in May, part-owner Barry Goldstein told Trot Insider that he is not ruling out
a campaign in Europe for the five-year-old gelded son of Balanced Image just yet.
“In order for him to go to Sweden, he must be invited and he must be in top form,” says Goldstein.
“Trond [trainer Trond Smedshammer] thought it would take at least four to five starts, but he'll likely only have three before the time comes when a decision is made. So, he is not out of the Elitlopp, but the chances are less than probable at this time."
Arch Madness finished ninth in the second leg of the Su Mac Lad Series on March 27 at the Meadowlands Racetrack in his season debut. After a couple of weeks off, he will begin preparing for the second round of the Classic Series, which is scheduled for May 1 at the Meadowlands.
“The same thought process applies to [Falls For You], and while she is at or near the top of the Older Mares in North America, she'd have to show that she's taken her game to the next level to warrant the trip.”
Falls For You, a five-year-old Yankee Glide trotting millionairess, finished third in her season debut also on March 27, a Preferred Trot at the Big M. She then travelled to Dover Downs where she easily won her division in the first leg of the Classic Series on Monday in 1:55.1.
“Bottom line is I'd only go if we all thought we could win, and not hurt the horse in the process.”
