Memorandum On Wagering Information
The Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency has issued a memorandum to provincial regulatory bodies, the Canadian horse racing industry and horsepersons’ groups in regard to the steps that now have to be taken in order for the CPMA to be able to release information relating to tracks' wagering data.
The CPMA release states that it must now receive a completed consent form, signed by the applicable racing association, before being able to release information that is identifiable as activity conducted by a specific racetrack.
According to the release, the CPMA does maintain a betting dataset describing betting activity based on location and product, although, the CPMA does not own that data. The release states that the data, rather, belongs to the operators that furnished the information.
The release also explains that the CPMA, as the federal authority for supervising betting on horse racing, has access to a wide range of records and reports concerning betting by licenced pari-mutuel operators. The information is used to establish that racing associations are operating consistent with the Pari-Mutuel Betting Supervision Regulations.
The release also says that pari-mutuel betting data that is not racetrack specific may still be released without submission of a completed consent form.
