Foiled Again ‘Scratched’ Out Of Leg
If you were planning on checking out Foiled Again race this weekend in the fourth round of the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series at Yonkers Raceway, you’d better change your plans.
Officials with Yonkers have announced that 18 entrants have been neatly divided into three $50,000 divisions (Race 5, 6 and 7) for this Saturday, but Foiled Again is not one of them.
The Yonkers release states that, “The math of three groupings and four horses entered does not work with the new one-horse-per-trainer-per-division rule, so Ron Burke had to ‘bench’ someone, and that someone was Foiled Again.”
The release explains that harness racing’s richest-ever horse ($6,947,775) was entered Tuesday morning, but was ‘scratched’ when there was not going to be a fourth division in the fourth round.
Burke’s horses that are in-to-go are Bettors Edge (to be driven by Yannick Gingras from Post 4) in the first grouping, Take It Back Terry (George Brennan, PP2) in the second division and Clear Vision (Yannick Gingras, PP5) in the third.
The aforementioned Burke trio currently ranks eighth, ninth (tied) and 16th in the series standings, respectively, while Foiled Again – with a second, third and fifth in three series starts – sits in 13th place.
Yonkers has also announced that the series’ leader (three-for-three) and defending champion P H Supercam will also not participate in the fourth round. The fifth (final) preliminary round is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, with the final (purse to be announced) on Saturday, April 25.
