Atlantic Filly Takes Pompano Feature
There was plenty of cool weather laying over the Atlantic East Coast of Florida, but that didn’t bother Atlantic Filly and driver Dan Clements
as they made their way to the winner’s circle after taking the $18,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Pompano Park in 1:53.4 on Tuesday.
Clements and Atlantic Filly shot right to the lead and took the field through fractions of :27.2, :56.4 and 1:24.1 before crossing the finish line and stopping the clock in 1:53.4.
Hypnotize, who sat a pocket trip throughout, popped out at the head of the lane but came up a head short to Atlantic Filly, who pulled off the 14-1 upset. Golden Falcon N rounded out the top three.
The six-year-old daughter of Pacific Fella is trained by Jimmy Salerno and owned by Don Locricchio of Michigan. It was her fifth win of the season, and the lion’s share of the purse bumped her overall bankroll to $148,867.
